The American Dream

Many people came to the United States chasing the American dream. The American dream had an important role for immigrants because it meant that they could live better life in new environment. America was the land of opportunity for them because everyone can be successful if they work hard. So, many people from other countries came to the America with expectation and they are the first generation of American dream. They worked hard with the belief of achieving the American dream. With the first generation’s sacrifice, their next generation can make a success in their life and we can see the successful cases of the American dreams. Still these days, the American dream exists. However, the real meaning of it has been faded. The economic reality of the United States makes the American dream hard to achieve. Also, corporations and government use just the symbolism of the American dream to force people into submission.

  1. I completely agree with you. Many thousands of people did come to America in search of the American dream and all of the freedoms that come with it. It is not easily attainable and the cost of living is so high, it is hard to achieve anything higher than what would be considered mediocre. People now have diverged away from that ideal life with the husband and wife and perfect children in private schools. The true American dream is now in the eye of the beholder.
